Hi, friend! If you haven't done so already, read through my This girl is on fire post. The page that you're on now is a highlight reel and meant to celebrate 2018, however, a big part of my year was spent in deep unexplainable pain. This should serve as a friendly reminder that what you see on the surface often times does not reflect the complete story. I'm hoping to be more open and honest about how I feel and my girl on fire post is my first step.
Anyways, can't bid 2018 farewell until I celebrate these fun moments! ENJOY!!
VICTORIES
- Joined a hip-hop class for a few months!
- Lauro (my brother) and I randomly stumbled upon an adorable little bookstore in New Orleans
- Spent my 24th birthday in Denver! We hot tubbed, pub crawled and danced so hard in our onesies!
- Proud of an event I coordinated in Dallas, Texas for Cafe Momentum
- Gave Karamo Brown (from Queer Eye) a big bear hug!!
- Introduced my friend Christina to Austin, Texas (GOD, THAT WEEKEND WAS SO FUN)!
- Watched my brothers, Lauro and Alan, graduate from college and high school <3
- Experienced my first New York Broadway show, explored Brooklyn and brunched so hard with my friend Amanda!!!
- Saw my best friend, Jessica, graduate with her master's degree in Spain! We explored the city by day, drunkenly told each other the most ridiculous bedtime stories by night and OH woke up in a city we weren't supposed to be in (fell asleep on a train and missed our stop)!
- Italy with the family!!
- WEDDINGS: Was able to see my beautiful sisters, Sarah and Allie get married to the loves of their lives! Then got to see my cousin Oscar marry one of the sweetest people on this planet!! Love was definitely in the air in 2018!
- CONCERTS: Edith (my unofficial concert buddy) and I sang our way through Alessia Cara, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Tori Kelly!! Was able to also sing my way through Austin City Limits and my favorites: Penny and Sparrow!
- The Renaissance Festival!!! We had such a blast eating, drinking and sword fighting our way through the first Renaissance Festival!
- Summoned up the courage to leave a job that I was not happy in!
Uncompromising promise
Now, just like I did last year, I'm going to make an uncompromising promise to myself for 2019. Going back to the long-term goal that I mentioned in the This girl is on fire post, I cannot accomplish it if I am not living a sustainable life. I plan to use Isaiah 61 as a foundation for my year! Hoping to build up and raise up former devastations so that I can empower others to do just that! That means, being more open!
What's your uncompromising promise this year? What steps will you be taking to keep yourself accountable?
Cheers!
I have loads of photos I could share but let's not get carried away ;)! Wishing you an incredible new year and DON'T forget to keep tabs of your victories, we're given many even though it may not seem like it in the moment. You're a rockstar!
Yours,
Amanda
