Philosophy: Inviting strangers to learn, understand & experience your passion(s).
Eliceo opened up his home to my friend, Kerri, and me to teach us how to bake conchas! If you don't know what conchas are swipe left to see/also go out and get yourself one--seriously, that's an order! As Eliceo was walking us through the do's & don't's of bread-making (it's a science--yeast has a mind of its own!!), we were naturally curious to hear his story. I mean, we're in the presence of someone who opens his home up to strangers just to share his life's passion--I MUST know more about him!
"As a kid, I used to always ask my mom to bake with me. So we bought the cake mixes but something almost always went wrong," he laughed. Eliceo mentioned how he never considered becoming a professional baker. Life's kind of funny that way, though, because fast forward a couple of years and he found himself graduating from boxed cake mixes to creating his own delicious masterpieces!
"All of a sudden, I had this realization that this is something I enjoy," Eliceo proudly said! He found himself traveling to taste and learn about foods from different cultures, baking for events and welcoming tourists like Kerri & myself into his home!
The outrageously beautiful part about our time at his home was how much it felt like home! We didn't just sit and watch Eliceo do his thing, but we were actually invited to learn, understand & experience it all with him! AHHH, shouldn't that be all of our philosophies?!?
What's your passion? And how can you invite others to take part in it?
